The motorcycle was back in business on Friday, but it was not for sale.
The goldwing was the last of its kind in Canada.
Harley-Davidsons parent company bought the motorcycle for $8.5 million in 2015 and gave it a brand new paint scheme, new exhaust, a new seat and a new engine.
But it was in trouble.
The new owners bought the goldwing for $12 million in 2012 and it was on the brink of bankruptcy.
The bike was not sold until last summer when the new owners decided to sell it.
The new owners told the CBC they were “really disappointed” with the goldwings condition and decided to give it a new paint job.
The paint scheme had a very different feel to what the owners had seen before.
The owners wanted to change up the colors and the exhaust looked different.
But the goldwings new owners did not want to change the paint scheme or look any different.
So Harley- Davidson agreed to the goldwind’s sale, which the new owner made to its new owners.
The motorcycle went to an independent auction house and was auctioned off for $7.1 million.
Harley- Davidson said in a statement the gold wing is a rare example of a motorcycle that was built in Canada, which it says was done for a very specific purpose.
“This motorcycle was built to meet a specific need and this motorcycle is very rare and unique in the motorcycle industry,” the statement said.
“It is not the same motorcycle we have now.
It is a testament to the commitment of the original owners and the commitment we have made to our customers.
Harley Davidson will continue to support its customers and will continue its efforts to continue to make this bike available to the Canadian market.”
In the meantime, Harley- Davidsons website has been updated with new information about the gold wings restoration.
The company says it will have more information to share later this week.
